Fillers are incredible and popular products used to add volume to the face which gives the face a smoother look and restores youthful contours to your skin. Common fillers are Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, Belotero, Volbella, Refyne, Defyne, Radiesse, Sculptra, and many others.
Fillers are used for deeper valleys of the face to soften the signs of aging. Fillers are also used to lift certain parts of the face like a subtle facelift without any surgery.
Fillers are used to fill in the permanent, etched wrinkles in the face. Fillers are used to add volume to thinner lips. Fillers are used under the lower eyelids fill in tear hollows.
Most of current fillers are made from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate which occurs naturally in the human body, particularly in skin and cartilage. There is also an enzyme (hyaluronidase) which acts as a filler eraser if ever necessary.
I perform the filler injections myself. As an eyelid specialist, I am quite comfortable injecting filler into the tear hollow below the lower eyelids. I usually use a blunt needle called a cannula which results in more comfort during injection and reduced bruising after injection.
My philosophy is to create a natural look so that people don’t know that you are getting injections and they see an enhanced you and not your injections. I avoid creating duck lips and chipmunk cheeks. However, everyone has different preferences and tastes, so I take the time to understand what you want and then tailor your filler treatment to you.
Most of the current fillers have numbing medication mixed in with the filler which results in minimal pain. I actually self-inject fillers into my own face and I have a low pain tolerance, so the numbing medicine mixed with the filler works well.
Common fillers are Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane Silk and many others.
